Carefree Northants is a registered charity, established in 2011 by three parents of adults with learning disabilities.
Carefree Northants provides an Advocacy and Advice Service, which can support people to access Social Care funding and to apply for benefits. The service has been extended into the areas of child protection, deprivation of liberty and MCA. We have helped over 200 families.
Carefree Northants can provide practical support to make life easier for those in need. We have funded an eye operation, special equine therapy and a new wheelchair, for example. We support a group of gymnasts from the Lings Forum Gymnastic Club who have travelled around the country in all kinds of competitions, the Rockin’ Roadrunner a popular club night in Northampton, and Picture the Difference a pilot drama project for people with special educational needs.
We have given grants to facilitate the completion of projects at Freedom Support, Vogue Studios, The Sweet Bee and Caring and Sharing.
We can also provide access, support and funds for respite breaks for people with learning disabilities and their carers. We have taken groups to Exmoor and The Lake District to holiday centres run by The Calvert Trust, as well as holidays at Centre Parcs. See the HOLIDAYS page for more photos.
